FAQ'S
Frequently asked questions about baby and child sleep consulting + sleep training methods...
DO YOU ADVISE THE CRY IT OUT METHOD?
No!
All advice provided will be gentle, responsive and suited to the needs of the individual family and child. The aim is to form secure attachments and confident, happy children.
That being said, I can't promise that there won't be some tears as changing behaviours can be a difficult process and crying is how babies express their feelings and it is important that they are allowed to show their emotions.
DO YOU DO HOME VISITS?
If you are local to Glasgow I am happy to meet face to face to carry out a consultation but I do not provide in home support at bed/nap times. I will give parents the tools to implement sleep plans themselves but I do not have any hands on input with the child.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY INITIAL CONSULTATION?
It can be useful to keep a sleep diary for the few days prior to consultation but this is not a necessity. Some people like to have a pen and paper or note taking device. Your child does not need to be present for the consultation but it is fine for them to be there. If your partner or any other household members want to be present for the consultation this is encouraged as it helps if the whole household is on board with the sleep plan.
WILL THE SLEEP TRAINING WORK?
There will not be an overnight magic fix, it will require effort on your part and all children will learn things at their own pace so there is no one size fits all approach but if you are willing to put in consistent effort and follow my advice I am confident you will see improvements.
If you don't feel ready to commit to sleep training at this time you may find some helpful advice/tips on my social media pages and blog.
